Been watching this looooong thread for a while.

In the UK, the way that individual dealerships are tied to specific
manufacturers can work to your advantage.  The dealers are VERY
sensitive to complaints to the manufacturer about poor dealership
service - they are terrified of loosing their advantageous franchise
arrangements.
So a letter of complaint sent to the manufacturer about the delaer
error, with a copy sent to the offending dealer, works wonders!
Through work, I have had 3 Ford vans suffer from broken timing belts,
all with severe "head" damage.  2 were out of warranty.  All 3 had
complete replacement engines supplied and fitted FOC after using the
above tactic!
