I just got back and am still sorting through e-mail (only 250 messages, not
800+) Whew!
Thanks for the extra information about plates. I took the time to visit AAA
and get a quote for insurance (less expensive than Massachusetts, go
figure). And the agent was quite helpful about things to bring with me. It
seems that CA requires me to take the written test again and to get
discounted insurance I need a driving history for 3 years minimum with 5
giving me a discount for no losses.
I'll know in a few days if we're moving. Unfortunately, big companies
require slow processes. The good news is the company paid for an extra day
so that we could drive around San Jose looking at neighborhoods and
property. Hopefully won't get shafted in moving.
Weather was great, people were very friendly, and the roads really were made
for driving. I've never seen so many interchanges in one place. I really
liked the way merging is handled. I didn't get to do any sight seeing, but
if we move, I'll have several years to take care of that! I'm hoping for an
excellent Napa wine tour.
