Lead or no lead has no effect on the valve seats whether they are
original, or hardened. I have been running unleaded gas on original
valve seats with original valves sine they did away with leaded gas
close to 20 years ago. The engine in PIECES was rebuilt in 1983, nothing
more then a common valve lap and new guides was done to the head.
It still runs fine. Infact, the engine has outlasted 2 other bodys.
When I had the head off a couple years ago, it was still fine, de-coked
and reinstalled.
They only ones saying you need "no lead" heads, are the ones selling the
parts.
As for the lead with a Judson...All I know is a friend of mine drives an
MGB with a blower on it. He uses the middle grade unleaded, it runs fine
and has been for a lot of years now.
