I bet quite a few of the new luxo-sport cars have drive by wire.  I know the 
new Corvettes have it.  I was watching a ProRally last year (or was it 2 
years ago) and the Ford Focus that was in the lead broke down when his drive 
by wire failed.  He couldn't fix it on the side of the road (as he COULD have 
if he had a cable) so he was out.  BTW, stock Focuses (Foci?) don't have 
drive by wire.
