Subject: Scrap yard finds - stuff for the list - 8" rear drums?

Hi List,

Warm and sunny today. Car actually got really warm for the first time this
year. A local chum who I recently met through the MG BBS who has a Midget put
me to a local scrappie that has a couple of Midgets in it. He had a roll bar
out of one of them.

This afternoon he was working so I went to take a look with a view to getting
a 3.9 diff, steering column, rack etc.

Indeed, 2 cars one a 1098 Mk1/2 Midget, the other a 1275 Mk3 Midget. Both
cars were almost complete but the 1275 badly accident damaged and the 1098
rotten as a pear.

I had the thermostat housing off the 1275 (Crossflow rad) because while they
are available the replacement while superior, is not the same so the housing
may have a concours value one day.......... I had the throttle pedal off the
1098 because it was the 1500 pendant pedal not the organ type and looked in
nice condition. I also had a large diamater water pump pulley which I wanted
for
my future Turbo Morris Minor Traveller project - the TMMT.

Be a couple of weeks or more before I get to go back and maybe get the
steering column to practice a shorter cut'n'shut than is already on my car. I
may
also see about the stub axles as saleable cores. A couple of guys had already
asked about the racks so maybe outside my we tight price range. The 1098 had
the early more hook looking quarter light window catches, thats vent windows I
think to you guys and gals - so I might try and get those as part of the
earlification project on my own 69.

Couple of MGBs with calipers and at #25 a pair quite reasonable but I already
have one spare set.

A Wolseley 1500 with back brakes which the guy was looking for #40 for is
just about as cheap as you get (Chucks and David's and my set and my spare set
all cost more than this [less still for Chuck if I ever get to sell the
halfshafts]).

Anything I should be looking out for on the 1098 as saleable spares? Any of
my buddies going to fly over and bring some overalls an empty suitcase and
spend a day in the yard with me?

Frank, no A40 in the yard but an Austin America with nice interior trim.

Large and noisy big piston engined aircraft that made a low pass and tight
turn over the yard was I think a WW2 flying fortress but could have been any 4
piston prop WW2 American bomber.

Time to cut the grass, have a cup of tea, etc

Regards
