Hi Fred,

This must be a weakness in the box design because I have a Marina box in a 
similar condition.  It looks like the pin that secures the reverse gear fork 
shears and the fork chews up the gear.

I would think it ought to be possible to find a cheap second hand box.  Don't 
know how well the Datsun box mates up to the 1500 but would think the 2 
options are to convert to an overdrive Spit box or a Ford five speed - both 
conversions undertaken by listers (maybe they have old parts gearboxes too?).
