Well said...

And as we get older, the historical
(and emotional) significance we, who lived through those times, place
upon
those times (things and events), will
disappear as the young inherit the earth,
and so shall it be for them in time, with
respect to those who follow them.

Mention the JFK coup de 'etat to your
average 24 year old and it has little
significance. To me, the Warren
Commission report which followed it
changed my entire political reality and
thinking.

The foregoing having been said.....
one of the best cars I've ever owned
for reliable, dependable, economical
transportation for sure. I love my GTi
but I loved my '67 Bug a lot more! :)

With 8 "white" spoked 6" wheels and
Gas-Adjust shocks on 185x15's and
a camber compensator, this '67 Bug
found itself right at home on the corners.

Add a GEX 1641 along with a Weber
DFEV, deep sump, "stinger" glass pack
and Bosch 009 distributor, and it found
itself right at home on modern highways.

What a great little car. Blocked off the
"side channel" heat and directed all to
the two outlets under the rear seats and
carried a chamois as a "demister", though
with side vent windows it was rarely
required.

The GTi is quite the comfy quick, reliable, economical "econobox" but it
will
never have the "character" of my
beloved little beetle, though it goes
like hell!

Goodbye great little car...it was my
pleasure knowing you! :)
