Remove the guts from the housing, where the green wire spade terminal
on the back of the tach is, inside, it is attached to a wire.
Next to that wire is a resistor, What you have to do is....
Unsolder the wire from the spade terminal, cut the resitor, switch the 
resistor with the wire and solder them up.
This along with the white wire loop reversal that you already did will 
convert the + ground to - grd.
