Heh, heh!!

The collection is growing, eh??

It gets to a point that you're afraid to shut
off the lights and close the garage door
while leaving a couple of Spridgets alone
in there! :)

You have a Haynes or Bentley manual,
Willy? These are the best. Sending away
for a Motorhead catalog and following
their steps for a tune-up as outlined is
also a good way to go as well as it provides loads of advice along with
a ready parts list:

www.motorheadltd.com

developing a relationship with a mechanic
in town and watching him/her or having
them take you through the steps is an
excellent way to go as well. Nothing wrong with your own trial and error
"hit or
miss" approach though
it is time consuming and the "long way
'round" to a more orderly and logical approach until you become familiar
so you
can pretty accurately trouble shoot from
"outside" the logical method.

An engine with low compression in one or
two cylinders is going to respond differently to tuning than a healthy
motor.
They can both be "tuned" but you oughta
know the "difference" in terms of the what
the expected end result in each case will
most likely be.

I've seen guys go nuts trying to adjust the
timing to avoid pre-ignition only to find the
wrong heat range of spark plug installed
by the PO. The new owner installed new
plugs of the same heat range (but never checked it in the book) 'cause
that's what
he found in the motor to begin with when
he bought the car! Went from "12's" or
"14"s to "9's"......."timing problem" solved!

I'll send you a site on compression/leak
down which initially determines engine's
mechanical condition to begin with.
Correct valve adjustment prior to these
tests is helpful!
