Just curious.  You say your carb floats "need to be adjusted better".  What
brought you to that diagnosis?  Unless you know for ABSOLUTELY sure that
they're off, I'd say to look elsewhere, first, for your rough running
problem.  Unless you've got valves freshly adjusted to the correct spec,
ignition (dwell, timing, cap, rotor, condenser, wires)"spot on" and have
made absolutely certain you've no vacuum leaks; you should not touch the
carbs.  With SUs: if they're properly set up and maintained, they tend to
stay that way.
Remember: 99% of SU carburetor problems are ignition problems.

I pulled out the dizzy, put in the old rotor and condensor and cleaned up
the
HT coil wire, and put it back together.  One of those things did it, because
it fired right up.  Still runs a little rough, probably because my carb
floats
need to be adjusted better, but at least it started.
