That is good advice. In both cases where I have had either a head or a head
gasket blown, when I pulled the filler cap, coolant GUSHED out intermittently.
It was the effect of the air and gasses being pushed into the cooling system
by the pistons,through the crack or the blown head gasket. A cracked
cylinder wall will give you the same response.
But keep in mind that if you do NOT get that gush, that doesn't mean there is
no crack or blown headgasket (pr cracked cylinder). And BTW, I blew a head
gasket, replaced it, and promptly blew the replacement. Install a good quality
head gasket.
