Geez, Ron. When was this written? It certainly doesn't apply today, since
the dollar is very weak and everything you buy in pounds sterling you must
multiply by approximately 1 3/4 to get the dollar price. Just two years ago
the
multiple was approximately 1 1/2. So if you pay 10 pounds sterling for a meal,
you can practically say that you paid approximately $17.50 for it. It is much
cheaper to eat over here in the USA than in England. Also, it is much, much
less expensive to purchase Scotch Whiskey locally at the Liquor store than it
is to purchase it in Scotland, or even at the duty-free store. I am talking
not just a little less, but massively less. Such is the legacy of "Dubya's"
economy. 8^(
