Hi, Dean...

The Judson paperwork that came with
the Spridget kit makes no mention of
disconnecting the vacuum advance line
from the stock distributor. As a matter
of fact, the Holley carb. which comes
on the blower has provision for same.

The stock 23D, curve #40819 consists
of a mechancal curve specific to WOT
as utilized in the 1275 Cooper S. This
dist. was also used by the factory on
early 1275 '67 Spridgets, before being
replaced by a 25D model encompassing
both mechanical and ported vacuum advance curves, the latter for better
part throttle fuel economy.

The amount of vacuum advance given
is noted on the outside of the vacuum
unit attached to the dist. in degrees, along
with numbers indicating the amount of
vacuum required within the induction system wherein vac. advance becomes
operable.

The lighter the load, the greater the vacuum, the greater vacuum advance
you get up to the max. number (Hg.)
noted on the exterior of the vacuum
unit. The lower number (Hg.) is indicative
of when the vacuum advance begins
coming in. I think Paul Tegler has this
infomation on his website...
www.teglerizer.com under distributor
info.

A rebuilt, ready to go Judson Spridget
kit can be had from George Folchi for
$1,000.00.

A rebuilt 23D (curve #40819) can be had
from NAPA under part #48-400 for under
$100.00.

There were two Judson boost gauges
offered as far as I know...the combo
vac./ boost gauge shown on ebay
by this seller and a 2nd, less expensive gauge which indicated boost
only.

Both gauges are EXTREMELY rare,
as I understand it.
