His theory is actually right thou...

One of the stated intents of a dry sump system is to create a vacuum in the
engine to draw the oil out of the weep sites... thereby promoting flow of
oil... The biggest advantage to this vacuum is that it aids in sealing the
rings.... it actually can draw the rings out to the cylinder walls..

This is of course assuming that you want a closed engine.... I run a
breather and a secondary breather tank on the engine with the primary
breather tank off to the side of the dry sump tank....

The biggest advantage to a dry sump to me was the size of the oil tank... in
my case it holds 6 gallons... We only use 4.. but it still substantially
increases the amount of oil which prevents overheating of the oil during the
five mile wide open runs down the salt... That and I love the filters I can
run.... the engine has a 2 quart HP6.... and the return side has a Canton
Meca wide screen which allows us to peak at what's coming out of the engine
between passes or events..... Neat stuff.... but not as cheap as a wet sump
system....
