To really get this number right you EITHER have to figure the exchange rate
in 1963 (not today's), OR get the number (in pounds) up to UK current value,
then convert to US$ at today's exchange rate.

Unfortunately, I could only goes find charts that track exchange rates back
to 1971:
http://www.federalreserve.gov/releases/H10/hist/dat89_uk.txt

But this page can bring the value of 1963 pounds up to 2002 pounds (close
enough?)....
http://eh.net/hmit/ppowerbp/?action=before70&pounds=&shillings=500&pence=&ye
ar=1975

The page above gave me this....
Base model: #11117.72 in the year 2002 has the same "purchase power" as
#865, 00s, 00d in the year 1963.
With options: #12634.36 in the year 2002 has the same "purchase power" as
#983, s, d in the year 1963.

SO, in 2002, with an exchange rate of $1.50 = #1, the equivalent selling
price would be about $16,676 for the base model and $18,951 with the
options.

OR with today's exchange rate of $1.85 = #1, the equivalent selling price
would be about $20,541 for the base model and $23,373 with the options.

Going the a completely different way, using Robert's figure of $3500 in
1963, and using http://www.westegg.com/inflation/ to calculate inflation,
the car would cost $20,027. in 2002, or roughly $21k today.

So looking at all of the above, we have a ball park number.

OK, my brain hurts now.
