LOL...whoa, whoa!! (what a trip, eh? :)

No Rick. The Navy kicked me out of the
NavCad program subsequent to enlistment after they found out I had
"accidentally" forgotten to mention I had
had asthma as a kid ("gee, how'd I miss
that one?").

So I never got to have the pleasure.

But I have flown with guys who have, one
of whom ejected at about zero altitude
from his F-14 after a "cold" cat shot.

The response to the initial ejection is
always the same..."Well, for a moment
there, I had absolutely no fu-kin' clue..."

In the case of the F-14 jock, he went from
flying mode to swimming mode (actually,
floating mode) in a heartbeat and couldn't
exactly find the time to "track" the experience. One second he was
sitting
comfortably in the cockpit and then....
"bang" it's windy'er than hell and he's
taking a cold shower! But he sort of knew
what was coming...said he felt the
"difference" in lack of proper initial acceleration instantly and had no
time to figure out whether it was the cat
or the airplane and for some strange
reason, didn't really care at that point
in time.

I told' em he probably cost the Navy a
good airplane for no apparent good reason obviously, and that they
probably
shouldn't have bothered fishing him out,
and maybe I should fly the first leg, since
we'd not flown together previously (with
the appropriate mock serious expression)
since we were not so equipped.

We got along very well after that...he took
the first leg. :):)
