Bob's right about the studs. Chances are that if you use spacers thick enough
to make a difference, you'll have to use longer studs. If you do change to
longer studs, you ought to also consider upgrading to 7/16" studs. I wouldn't
even consider using longer 3/8" studs.
Another option is to put steering stops on your steering rack to limit travel
at full lock. I use split shaft collars for this. See the link below to see
an example of what I'm talking about:

I use these on my racecars to prevent rubbing on various suspension components.
(Note: I don't remember what size they are. The link above is just an example.
You'll have to measure the shaft diameter yourself.) You clamp them onto the
steering rack on both sides inside the rack boots and adjust them in or out to
limit the rack travel to the point where you no longer have any rubbing.

Depends on width of spacers, Mike.
Anything more than 1/4" and conservatively, you're looking at longer
studs. All available from MiniMania
