Hello spridgets,

what's the deal with the "micro adjustment knob" on the side of
the 24D distributor? when i turn mine, nothing seems to happen,
as far as the timing is concerned... that is, with a timing
light hooked up, i can turn it all the way from one end to the
other (55 clicks?) and the timing mark never moves! does it
change the advance curve? where SHOULD it be set when the timing
is adjusted? ... also, the "book" says 8 degrees advanced at 600
rpm.. but the idle should be 1000 rpm.. .. what should the
advance be at 1000 rpm?.. at 800 rpm?... does one of those
      "degree adjustable" timing lights help?

right now i have it more or less "by ear" it just starts to ping
pulling at low rpms in 4th gear uphill. .. is close, close
enough? ... what are the dangers of running too retarded, as
opposed to running too advanced and burning a hole in a piston?

      TIA
