Does your shift lever feel like it is further forward than it should be? If
so,while you have the side cover off, try moving the first gear assembly away
from the bearing houseing.I believe I used a long screwdriver through the side
cover to gently move the gear, it should take very little pressure.You may even
be able to get to the gear through the drain hole. It worked for me on a bench
after I had pulled the tranny.
