I don't know what to say... you fit in a Midget, but a Miata is too 
small?  I actually pot Miata seats in my 72 Midget to get more 
interior room than the stock seats. Made a huge difference in leg and 
shoulder room.

My friend Chuck (the one who just bought one) is at least 6'1" and no 
problem. Maybe you are long in the upper body. He wants the seat 
lower, but it's more an issue with being able to have his head below 
roll bar height and lowered center of gravity. Apparantly. the trick 
is to remove foam from the bottom of the seat cushion to sit lower. 
That way there is no change in the seat shape from above. Also, I 
discovered there is a version of the seat cushion that is flatter 
than the usual ones. The seat backs are the same. I think the are the 
"cheap seats". You probably sit at least an inch or two lower in 
these.
