Ah yes, it is a 1275 and the mechanic put a new pcv on it.

Hi Craig,

You didn't mention if the rebuild was an original 948, or a later 1275. If it
was a later 1275, it might be something as simple as crankcase ventilation.
Without a PCV valve of some sort, 1275 develop a lot of internal pressure, and
the oil goes out the easiest way possible, ie. front (timing gasket) and rear
(rear plate) of the engine. But if it's the original 948, I'll have to defer
to others on the list.

Well folks, still being fairly new to things here I've just gotten some bad
news from a mechanic taking a look at my car that I'm not sure what to do
about.. The Bugeye was leaving larger than normal puddles of oil on the garage
floor. Yes I know these cars have a flow through lubrication system but this
was much worse than typical, and it started to really lose a lot of oil at
highway speeds, so I took it into a mechanic. I just got a call from him and he
said that the car has major leaks going out both the front and the back of the
motor. Otherwise the car seems to run fine. Although the engine was rebuilt a
few years ago it has very few miles on it. It was done by a place in Nor. Cal.
called British Parts Direct, but I believe they are no longer in business. I
know I'll be looking at pulling the engine, but are there any thoughts as to
what typically can cause this and what needs to be done to resolve it?
