Thread-topic: "bog" or "flat spot" on initial (off-idle) acceleration
Which conveniently brings me back to my search for a good avance curve
for this baby! I got my "advance curve kit" from Moss Europe, and it was
5 springs for a 45D dizzy and no instructions. So now I need to find
time with the car and Des Hammil's book and map the current advance
curve and see where I might need to tweak this.

Come to think of it, the engine (even in the power band) seems more
responsive at part throttle. I've heard that this effect can be from the
vacuum advance kicking in, but it's not hooked up. Maybe my timing is a
little too advanced still? I set it at 32 degrees max. (Of course, not
knowing the curve, this is of limited help...)

Or...

Also...an off-idle "flat spot" or "bog" in
terms of initial acceleration can be caused by too much (or not enough)
initial ignition
advance.
