Well...

Times have changed for paint shops,
considering EPA stuff. Lot more expensive
these days for the independent shops
and material costs have gone through the
roof as compared to "yesterday".

This guy (according to James Gruber) had
an awful lot of metal work done. A pro
shop like Kent Bain's Automotive Restorations gets BIG labor bucks and
while they absolutely do excellent work,
but they are a high end shop of excellent
repute and accordingly, their work
will cost you a fortune (relatively speaking). Not surprisingly, most
(if
not all) of his customers are "checkbook"
types.

I got a buddy who works in the audio/visual installation field. He works
for a pro shop down in Greenwich of
excellent repute. All high end stuff for
homes and "yatches" :)! They do work for
homes in Nantucket, Martha's Vinyard
as well as the normal Greenwich clientele
including the "loveable" Ms. Helmsley
and many wealthy NYC clients as
well, including Don Imus' places in
Greenwich and Manhattan.

Their work (and follow-up service)
is excellent but man...you
WILL pay through the nose!

I got a buddy of mine in Darien that does
the same work on a smaller scale. Owns
his own small firm. Does just as good work as the foregoing...for less
than 1/2
the price and still makes a reasonably
good living.

Me...I do my own bodywork, leave the
"heavy" stuff to a buddy of 30 years
experience here in town, and prefer
MAACO for a good looking, reasonably
priced "utility" daily driver paint job. :)
