Hi Frank,

I think that is one of Murphy's Laws. It also seems to occur with three out of four bolts coming out ok and the fourth and final one either breaking off or stripping out or some such fun happening.

To Frank and all on the list: I have been doing much to the series one Lotus Seven (Sprite power) over the winter. I am down to the last chore that I really wanted to get done before spring arrives. It has to do with the oil seal of my hubs onto my rear axle housing. I am still getting 90Weight on my brake shoes in the rear. I remember when I put the new seals and bearings in place, the bearing slid right into place and didn't need any coaxing at all. Is that why I have a leak? I just really want to cure this problem, at least for a while.

Please anyone that can offer any help . . . please help!

Thanks,

Mike Carpenter

Why is it I can paint 3 wire wheels and they all came out perfect but the 4th one wrinkled up?
All were wiped down with thinners prior to getting primed.
I let the thinners dry while I was masking the tires.
I let the primer dry too.
So whyisit the LAST one wrinkled?
Did you ever try to strip wrinkled paint off a 60 spoke wire wheel?
No fun tast. I had to dismount the tire to fit it in my bead blast cabinet. That was loads of fun in itself with prybars. And of course blasting 60 spokes took most of the day.
And the vacuum on the blast cabinet had to die today too.
So that made seeing silver metal from silver paint a bit of a chore in the dust cloud inside the cabinet.
Well the job is finished, I'll remount the tire tomorrow when the paint drys. And being me, I did NOT use a store bought "correct" argent silver or wheel silver, I just happened to have some left over single stage urethane paint from a Buick and it looks nice on wire wheels.
They look alot better now then they did when a few guys from the list saw them at the Philly meet 2 weeks ago.
