Well cracked header = all bad news

1. Reduces scavenging of exhaust gases
2. Can lead to burnt exhaust valves
3. Increases eng. compartment temperatures and thus....

a. "loads" cooling system
b. increases combustion temps (reduces margins to pre-ignition/detonation)
c. reduces performance/economy of op.
d. reduces service life of hoses, wires, etc. by exposing same to excessive heat
