Dan,

What lube did you use on the head studs? What torque spec? Stock studs or
ARP hardware? Did you torque it progressively in the proper sequence... say,
starting at 15 lbs, then 30, then 45, etc?

If it's leaking now, "hoping" ain't gonna stop it when it runs.

It'd be more accurate to say that I am experiencing an external coolant leak
from the head gasket PRIOR to checking the head bolt (actually nut) torque
in a random/non manufacturer sequence, yes. I was pretty surprised the first
one moved, once I realized it was going to move I should have stopped,
removed the valve cover and did it in the correct sequence. Given that only
2 of them actually rotated to any measurable degree, I feel I was OK in
doing it this way, but lucky. If all of them would have moved, then I would
feel I possibly did harm by going out of sequence, in this case no. I did
not back off any of the nuts, just checking tightness.
Just now went out to check it, still looks like it's seeping as it was, no
better or worse.
Will be trying to start it today, maybe some engine temp will help.

Dan....

are we to understand you are experiencing
coolant leakage from the head gasket joint
after torquing (or re-torquing) the head bolts in a sequence other than that
recommended by the mfg.?
