In my line of work, I get a plug every couple of months.
I used to try plugging my own tires but I just don't have the knack.
And like Mike said, most shops want to patch a tire these days.
But my local tire shop will plug my truck tires even though he
recommends not doing it when I ran over a bolt ;) but it worked.
Check with a small local repair shop not a national chain, they will
plug it.
I also found out that major chains will NOT put tubes in a "tubless
tire" even if you have wire wheels. So I asked them what will keep the
air inside a rim with 60 spoke holes in it?
They told me to buy tube type tires, so I asked for them at that shop.
What a joke. So I took the "on sale" tires to go and brought them to my
local shop where he mounted them for me. (cash, no reciept)
