Thread-topic: Engine run-in procedure
Hello,

I wanted to know what the engine run-in procedure is for the 1500cc
engine as there is nothing in the Haynes manual.

My 911 rebuild book gives the following for the 911:

- turn in 30s blocks with starter to build oil pressure until there is
oil pressure and then an extra 15s

- run for 20minutes at 2000rpm to break-in the engine

- change the oil

- tune carbs rich

- 5 mile run varying engine speed without going above 4500rpm
- check everything
- 10 mile run varying engine speed without going above 4500rpm
- check everything
- 20 mile run varying engine speed without going above 4500rpm
- check everything
- 50 mile run varying engine speed without going above 4500rpm
- check everything

- change oil

- Cool down

- do 1000 miles in multiple runs

- change oil
- valve adjustment
- tune carbs

- done...

Regards, cyrille
