Jeez Bob, now I gotta let daughter Kate kick your ass before ya become a
Hoss morsel.

Get the oil changed on your shitbox, point it west, and start driving when
the snow melts.

Nah...it is all "replaceable".....

even this great little nugget of a motor....
EN40B crank, Total Seal "II" rings...lotta
the good stuff in there!

But why, in any event, would I wanna replace any engine sooner than later,
most especially doing the kind of driving I find BOOOORING!??

Like in flying, I like the "action"....give me
hand-flown takeoffs/landings &/or arrivals/departures over "cruisin'", any
day. Most especially in high-density terminal areas like BOS, ORD, JFK, LGA
and
the like where you've got to "work & play well with others" for the sake of
the team effort. THIS is where the "fun" is. Throw in
difficult operational circumstances such as lousy weather and/or mechanical
difficulties and it's even more a test of real life professional
skill/judgement.

The subsequent feeling of self-fulfillment and satisfaction is the payoff,
even as you
criticise your own performance afterward....
there always seems to be something you
could have done better, even if you "won".

I mean do you know what it's like running
a tight approach/landing on a "heavy"
'74 (3 miles) while avoiding his "wake", with
perfect min airspeed control amid timed "S-turns as the Concorde trys to
crawl up your whazoo 'cause an earlier controller unitentionally got the
spacing a little
wrong and everyone is depending
upon you to pull a rabbit out of a hat
so nobody has to go around. I love this
stuff, man...I eat it up. This is serious fun.

I think this is what I miss most of all in my
"forced" retirement, as I do my part to make way for the less well-paid
younger folk while I help trim my company's senior-salary pilot expense
(which is what "forced" retirement at age 60 is really all about!!!)

On other subjects...
So, WST!!! You've got a daughter??? Is she
cute... :)....or does she look like you?? :(

And as far as throwing me in a pot, you gotta find me first...I stand
sideways and I bascially disappear....there's no way your even gonna
find/see me.

And as for Hoss, if I can't kill
'em with affection, I'll bite 'em right back
despite my fondness for "major" dogs...then
I'm gonna sue ya' 'cause we're gettin' a bit
long in the tooth and that bite will probably cost me more than it'll cost
Hoss.

This goes for Murphy too, Kate....and bring your cats!! :)

It's time for breakfast and a MAJOR coffee....
it's snowin' a bit out there...and 28F...thank
God for the GTi! :):)
