I have found use of what was nitrostan as filler on lots of Sprites over 
the years. Today we would use spot putty to do the same.
You can try tapping it down but those beads ("T" moulding) is welded to 
the bonnet/fender and probably will not, or should not move.
A little filler and sand it with a folded edge of some sandpaper and it 
will disappear.
