Family and I will be leaving for Katrina Ville with a LOT of gifts for the
folks there.

The truck leaves Saturday ayem

My Wife and her girlfriends have been working into the wee hours each night
sorting and packing gifts. I have left my trailer doors "unlocked" each day,
so that people that wanted to bring stuff by for us to take, had a place to
put it if we were not home.

The inside of my house looks like a BOMB went off, there is literally no
where to walk, upstairs, or in the basement.

3 area High schools are sending kids over tonight to wrap these presents,,
and I get to feed em all pizza (should be fun)

In my garage, I have the walls painted white, and every one that ever works
in the garage, or visits, I request they sign "the wall" I am going to put
a special place on the wall for "Waveland volunteers" do you think the kids
will like this?

Wife started out with the idea that she was just taking new stuff, and then
expanded to "good used" stuff as it looked like we has some extra room.

Let me share a few laughs with you of some things that have been donated,
without any thought of the "other" end.

1. My personal favorite

A very lovely scented expensive candle,

"Smells of the Ocean"

(That was taken back to the store and exchanged for "vanilla")

2. A Doctors wife donated 2 dozen size 6 blazers.

Hmm these people are sleeping in tents, and trailers,, I wonder where they
could use this?

3. Some guy donated all his painting clothes, stuff I would only use to cut
into rags..

4. Some soft sided toys, that have Urine stains on them.. blechhh gross

5. a few pairs of slippers with holes in them.?

6. Toys that do not have all the parts. ?

7. Filthy toys, I mean nasty dirty filthy.

The kids are going to try to scrub them up, but if they can't get
respectable, we are going to opt to leave that home.

Now don't get me wrong, for the most part, people have been WONDERFUL and
very generous. We have a lot of very nice things to take and give, I'm not
complaining, about the above, just looking at the humor, and trying to put
it in the "what were they thinking" category.
