I had my engine plate stamped by Clarke and am happy with it, also stamped the
numbers into my Smiths heater plate. He will do chassis plates too, but does
not provide the blank plate, need to send it to him. I believe he'll require
proof of ownership for a chassis plate.
I got a chassis plate from VB, it would have been ok if I had no plate,
(something better than nothing), but I wasn't happy with the repro plate from
VB at all so for now just reinstalled my original. I did see one on the net or
somewhere which LOOKED good, I inquired and they said that no it'll be the
same as VB, so didn't try it. The VB I sent to another lister a few weeks ago,
was good enough for them as they had no plate, so i gave it away, not worth
returning that sort of thing, so found it a home. Problem with the VB one is
the font size wasn't quite right, and some minor differences like that, oh and
not having the silver border (this is on my Mk2, would probably be a different
plate for yours, so maybe your style would look correct).
I don't know how close you want yours to be, might take a gamble and see what
the VB one looks like for yours, or Sports and Classics like someone
mentioned.
