running a 68C stat. or blanking sleeve helps
to ward off higher temps a bit but,
make sure you have the "later" mult-bladed
pastic fan to begin with. Not only more blades but a greater blade
angle-of-attack
as well to push more air at lower rpm's.
An alum rad is a huge improvement in cooling capacity. Expensive, but a one-off
sorta thing basically, if taken care of.
Otherwise, a supplementary electric cooling
fan can do wonders in heavy traffic situations in warm temps. as does going to
straight distilled water for the summer (with a can of proprietary water pump
lube/anti-corrosion solution).
Keep the heater valve open at all times as
it increases cooling system capacity and uses the heater as a heat exchanger as
well. Just close the "flaps" to direct the
heat up towards the windshield rather than toasting your feet.
