As a side matter....
During WWII, the BBC broadcasts to Europe were announced by three beats 
on the a drum tuned to 'C' and one beat on a drum tuned to 'F; --- the 
letter 'V' in Morse code--- repeated several times...
Then the messages would follow... with coded messages to the resistance 
being inserted at odd points...
 I always assumed the 'V" stood for 'Victory' as in 'VE Day' and 'VJ 
Day'
