I have a similar sound in my yellow Bugeye. If anyone has an answer please
respond on list. Maybe I can fix it if I know what it is.

My question is:
Why was the rear growling? The gears look fine. The bearings seem OK. The
front seal was leaking a little. The sound was a steady moaning type growl
that increased with speed. At 35 MPH is was noticable. At 45 it was pretty
loud. I didn't go much faster than that.
It was noisy at cruise or acceleration, quiet on deceleration.
Did I have a lash problem or maybe a bad bearing? Any tell-tale clues to
look for?

Cheers,
Derf
