In the olden days, you had to take your car down to Tijuana to get good
upholstery work at an affordable price. Now, they have all crossed the
river and are all in Southern California. Since they now control the
upholstery business here, the price has gone up and for Norte
Americanos, the quality has gone down.
(The drawback of taking your car down to TJ for upholstery was having
your seats slashed once you got home. This happened to three of my high
school friends whose "new upholstery" marijuana they were unwittingly
smuggling into the U.S.. Once they got home, it was "collected" on this
side by having the seats ripped open.)
