As Peter said, you will NOT be able to disengage the clutch without the
hydraulics or a huge pipe unless you do not physically fit in a Spridget ;-)

You can remove the rubber plug at the top of the bellhousing and observe
what the lever is accomplishing. I would recommend that you remove the
transmission, pull the pressure plate, make sure the disk is not stuck to
anything, then re-assemble. Much easier now than after it is back in the 
car!
As far as re-centering the clutch, it is not a big deal. Peter could 
probably
sell you a pilot tool, but it isn't really necessary. Just start a couple of 
the
bolts for the pressure plate, reach through the arches on the sides of the
pressure plate and center the clutch disk to the mating surface of the 
pressure
plate before tightening anything down. Works a treat.
