Frank has the best answer for setting timing.  It is very easy to do if you go 
by ear and feel when setting it.  Just make sure that you are burning the grade 
of fuel that you plan to use most often when setting the timing.  I have used 
the guns many times before I still wind-up restting the engine to what feels 
right.
