In the old days they'd take the rotor out of the distributor in lieu of a
locking ignition switch. ...bill in oregon

Subject: [Spridgets] Cutting Power

When my dash ign switch began to act up one day causing the car to continue
to run even with the key on "off" I - not thinking, opened the hood and
unlatched the device I have over my battery terminal to kill the battery.
Duh, the engine kept happily running along. I had to undo the wiring behind
the ign switch to kill the signal from the alternator.

Then, later, to heck with the ign switch, this is my car and I don't plan on
selling it. I hooked up a "on" switch that is hidden under the dash. The
ignition always reads off. But the car starts with a hidden switch - and
then I pull the start button on the dash which is tied to a simple off on
circuit under the dash to activate the starter.

If I park in an area of concern, I either take my steering wheel with me, a
small wheel, or I ditch it under the trunk area where it is hard to see.

These cars can be jumped anyhow, if someone has basic electrical
understanding.

Just a cent and a half of uneeded information for the group!

Kirk

1275 Bugeye with just about all the upgrades that can be done.
