Bill,

The danger is that it sets a legislative president. We motorcyclists and gun
owners can quote you chapter and verse on how one seemingly innocuous little
piece of legislation leads to another little one and one more after that and
then, all of a sudden, you wake up and find yourself in violation of the law
for something you've been doing legally all your life!

As a gun owner and competitive shooter I *definitely* disagree with your
parallel to gun legislation! It costs me hundreds of dollars every year to
pay lobbyists who are trying to keep lawmakers from taking away my second
amendment rights through subtle little manipulations of the system! In
other words, I have to pay to prevent my government from doing what they
mistakenly think I pay them to do! I don't want to have to do that for my
cars and motorcycles too!!

BZ adds that "as long as it isn't mandatory........<snip>"

Sure, Billy. And I know you have a deep and abiding trust that our lawmakers
will always keep it voluntary, right? ;-)

Cheers!!
Jim
