There's a lot of mythology around Spridget cranks, including one that I've
heard some racers amazingly perpetuate that some cranks are cast (they are all
forged). Either way, I assume you will have the crank ground -  if you are
going to grind it, you should have it nitrided. You will lose the hardness
penetration for sure on a tuftrided crank, and almost definitely on a nitrided
one if you grind it .010.
