Found the problem! now how do I fix it?
i shifted the car into first so i could see in. I found a loose spring about 1"
long that i pulled out with a pair of tweezers. it was sitting on the right
hand side of the tail shaft when sitting in the car. it was siting in the
bottom covered in oil. should I keep looking for other pieces?

After i pulled it out i still can't shift into reverse

You shouldn't see oil, that's a foot below, or so. Can you feel the
reverse lock-out?
