Aren't they fun? I just love it when we get three 10,000 footers in our
6,000' yard, usually all with 3 - 6 bad orders to set out. Add to this
our new gung ho yard master tossing switch tags and red flags around
like pigeon feed, and the dispatcher in Omaha on the radio every two
minutes wondering what our problem is and when we will start moving
trains again, and shifts tend to get "interesting". Word is that we will
be handling 18,000 footers this spring. I'm just waiting for the day
that one of these behemoths goes on the ground and splatters all over a
high value target such as a school yard. UP will be embroiled in
litigation for the next 200 years.
