40 an 45 are the ID of the carb body holes.  You can put various sized
"chokes" or venturis in them.
I was never pleased with DCOE performance on the street.  It seems
when they do run good the mileage is absolutely terrible.
I consider them a race only option.
I really prefer single SU HIF on a streetable 1275.
