You said that you "cranked the car until they cleared". How long was that, 2
minutes, or 20 minutes. How long could account for the battery. If not very
long, you may want to check the output on your generator.
Your sig is "1960 Bugeye" (congrats, I have one also <G>), do you have the
original 948? If so, there may be a chance your fuel pump is suffering from
vapor lock, that may account for the bubbles in the filter. See if your
exhaust pipe is connected snug on your manifold. If you had a crack that
formed from not tightening it evenly, especially one faced towards the fuel
pump, that "could" account for the vapor lock. OOPS, that is if you are
running a 1275 manifold. But, if your clamp on the original 948/1098
manifold has an opening facing the pump, AND is not completely tight, you
"might" have an issue.
Fuel disappearing quickly... Again, if it is a 948, it should be sipping
fuel, unless you have a old cracked rubber fuel line. The old lines hate the
new fuel.
Now, if you are running a 1275, with a Weber DCOE, a header and have an
electric pump mounted in the back (like I have for MY 1960 Bugeye) forget
everything I just said.
