In my RWA Midgets, I have pulled engine and trans as a unit and
re-installed them that way. I have also pulled just the engine (there
is no way to pull just the trans of a Spridget!). If you line up the
edges of the clutch disk with the edges of the pressure plate, there
is no real difficulty getting the transmission shaft into place. If
all I need out is the engine, there is no way I am going to pull the
transmission, too. I had to change the throwout bushing once, with no
other reason to touch anything, so the engine didn't even come all the
way out of the engine compartment. I wish my hands were a bit smaller
sometimes when it comes to getting the trans to engine bolts in and
out, but it is too late for that.
