For a lot of goods, what Frank (and others) have said is right.  A lot of it 
is the same goods (crap or whatever) under different labels.  What you  have 
to try to do is differentiate between the generic crap and the properly made 
stuff.  Over here we seem to be getting a fair amount of Eastern European 
built as well as Chinese made equipment, one is badly built with poor 
quality materials and the other is different, it has poor quality materials 
and is badly built.
It seems fairly pointless me recommending some European stuff, but we have 
found that AEG (German) seems to work.
