They may have done that, to upgrade the brake system, and be able to add a
V-8 drivetrain. I know someone that had an old 40's Ford pickup body, but
wanted a better drivetrain. He put the body on the frame of his wrecked 78
Trans Am. He has the best of both worlds, an attractive old Ford PU, with a
dependable running gear.
