You must be thinking of something else. You would never have to remove the cap
from the small end bushing, and replacement bushings I've used don't even have
a cap. All of our fulcrum bushings are made from steel, and they are silver
soldered into the arm.

easier.  You can solder the carb shaft and butterfly easily because they are
copper.  Solder does not bond well to steel, I think you would need to at
least heat it to a brazing temperature. Alternatively you could glue them on
with a bit of epoxy.
