Well, the obvious answer is a cat.  There are also deterents that can be
spread or sprayed around.  Find a good garden shop and ask for something
that smells like urine.  Or explain the problem and let them bring up the U
word.  The pee from a predator will keep the mousies away.

As an alternate, you can mount an owl decoy under the hood.
